Chris Harris (Full names Christopher James Harris) is a British automotive journalist, television presenter, and racing driver. He is well known for his popular YouTube channel, Chris Harris on Cars that he launched in 2014 and the channel now has over 426k subscribers. Currently, he presents the online car review series Chris Harris Drives for topgear.com. Chris Harris joined the Top Gear presenting line-up in 2016 for Series 23.
Harris has been one of Top Gear’s three key presenters since 2017. The Chris Harris on Cars web series was moved from YouTube to the official Top Gear website on June 28, 2016. Chris Harris on Cars aired on BBC America in July 2016. He and Neil Carey are the ones writing and filming their own car reviews and videos. Chris Harris Drives
Harris started his career in the automobile sector as a mechanic for Autocar, where he performed a variety of menial chores. He eventually rose through the ranks of Autocar to become an official road-test editor, and he established a reputation as a journalist by writing several automobile reviews and a regular comment column. Harris left Autocar magazine in 2008 to co-found the Drivers Republic, a new web-based media platform.
The firm closed down a year later. Drivers Republic said in a statement that the unexpected termination was due to “differences in our vision about future goals.” Harris joined Evo as a writer and reviewer shortly after the shutdown, releasing his first article there on October 12, 2009. His Evo pieces were published every few months until December 21, 2011, then he began writing for the magazine on a regular basis on April 10, 2015.

Harris was barred from reviewing Ferrari cars on February 2, 2011, after authoring an essay titled “How Ferrari Spins”. In his paper, he blasted the company for attempting “to win every test at any cost” and called the brand “profoundly unpleasant.” He further stated that in order to retain a relationship with Ferrari, an automotive journalist is required to please the brand with a positive review. Harris and Ferrari reunited in late 2013, and he has since reviewed a number of Ferraris.
Because of an article he published in which he criticized numerous aspects of the Lamborghini brand, Harris was barred from rating Lamborghini cars in 2014. He stated multiple Lamborghini issues, including one where “the brakes (on the Lamborghini) caught fire” while he was driving. As a result, Lamborghini terminated its partnership with Harris. Harris began reviewing Lamborghinis again in December 2017, driving the Lamborghini Huracán under his Chris Harris Drives brand, which is hosted by Top Gear.
